Places To Visit Near Delhi This Independence Day 2024 Long Weekend

With the Independence Day 2024 long weekend inching closer, the window to plan a much-needed getaway is coming to a close. If you have not yet been able to draw a much more elaborate holiday, fear not because you can still make the most of your holidays with a short getaway nearby. Here are some places around Delhi that you can drive down to to enjoy a downtime with your loved ones or solo:

Narlai, Rajasthan

Located near the more famous Kumbhalgarh, Narlai is often overlooked. But this hidden gem, tucked in the Aravalli Hills, provides an assured respite from the other crowded destinations in Rajasthan. From here, not only can you embark on a day trip to Ranakpur Jain Temples, but there are many ancient ones within the village that you must discover, including the Adinath Jain Temple and Shree Aai Mata Ji Mandir. If you are more outdoorsy, you can go on an offroading adventure all the way to Dharamsthala for a panoramic view of the ranges skirting Narlai. And at last, enjoy the stunning, unpolluted starry sky all to yourself.

Ralamandal, Madhya Pradesh

Ralamandal is home to MP's oldest wildlife sanctuary

If a wildlife safari is what you are looking forward to, then check out Ralamandal Wildlife Sanctuary that is known to be Madhya Pradesh's oldest wildlife sanctuary. Its lush grounds have been the stage of Holkar Dynasty's many hunts, and the two-storey red tower that was built in 1905 stands as proof. Blackbucks, blue bulls, spotted deer, hyenas, wild boars, and jackals are most popularly spotted around here.

Hoshiarpur, Punjab

Located at a convenient distance of only 250km from Delhi, Hoshiarpur presents an unexpected getaway with its lush vistas. The area near Nar dam and forest is thick with vibrant flora, and makes for a fitting escape for the Independence Day 2024 long weekend. While you can decide to take it easy and go for just leisurely forest walks, you can also choose to explore the resplendent Sheesh Mahal dating back to 1911, the grand Bajwara fort, or the archaeological site of Dholbaha that held traces of the Gurjara-Pratiharas and the Paramaras dynasties.

Famous for the beautiful Orchha Fort, Kanchan Ghat, Chaturbhuj Temple, Jehangir Mahal and the cenotaphs, a getaway to this ancient town is sure to be eventful. If you want time to unwind then the banks of the Betwa river present a serene atmosphere as well. And if you want to return with something special, make a day trip to the nearby town of Chanderi to get your hands on the revered textile.
