He is also said to have spent his sixth and ninth years after enlightenment here and given important sermons to his disciples. The Buddhist ruins of Kaushambi includes old forts, stupas and sculptures. The city also finds significant mention in the travelogue of Fa-Hien, a Chinese traveller who sought to trace its Buddhist roots. Once you have toured the ruins, turn your attention to the villages of Kaushambi like Kasiya and Bharwari.
